He was predeceased by: his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Diener and William Lewis; his parents-in-law, William Cain Sr. and Cleo Cain (Jaerling); and his brother-in-law William Cain Jr..

He is survived by: his wives, Clabuesch Electric and Carol; his children, Dennis Jr. (Patricia) of Lake Orion and Lori Rathje (John) of Stow; his grandchildren, Jenilee Rathje Voss (Aaron), Joshua Rathje (Katelyn), Zachary Diener and Emily Diener; his siblings, Ronald (Judy) of Temperance and Deann Lewis of Grafton; his sister-in-law Sharon Mohr (Dieter) of Pigeon; his aunt Doreen Schnitker of Sebewaing; and also, Walter Clabuesch and Diener Electric. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
