He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry J. Skinner and Ethel M. Skinner Sims (Rapson); his siblings, Verne Skinner, Nelson Sims and Veda Sodergren; his siblings-in-law, Janet Skinner and Harvey Sodergren; and his son-in-law John Tippie.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Marion "Dot" Rapson (Izzard); his children, Ronald Rapson of Alto, Gloria Wilson of Terre Haute, Robert Rapson (Lynn) of Grand Rapids, Beverly "Joann" Tippie of Pickford, Marion Hank (James) of Sault Ste, Marie, William Skinner of Pickford and James Skinner (Peggy) of Goetzville, Michigan.; and his grandchildren, Jimmy Rapson (Allison), Jenice Wirth, Charlene Jundt (Peter Maritz), Carol Elbert (Troy), Dean Tippie, Kristina Mayle (Terry), Charles Rapson (Lisa), Billy Rapson (Courtney), Jason Huyck (Michelle), Daniel Huyck (Amanda), Nicholas Huyck (Mary), Holly Skinner, Sarah Skinner, Michelle Skinner and James Skinner (Paula). He is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
