He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Heckman and Dorothy Heckman (Schneider); his sisters, Marie Fernholz, Joanne Ladiski, Jean Schafer (Louis) and Theresa Ladiski (Ed); his parents-in-law, Wendell and Vera Peiffer; and his in-laws, Jack Peiffer (Lynette), Susie Barker, Mary Devers (John) and Pete Peiffer.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry Heckman; his children, John Heckman, Jr. (Jackie), Robert Heckman, Donald Heckman and Joni Jegla-Seaman (Mike); his brothers, Jim Heckman (Ellen), Ed Heckman (Joan), Tom Heckman, Ken Heckman (Joyce) and Joe Heckman (Ruth); and his in-laws, Skip Peiffer (Roxie), Tom Peiffer (Doris), Joe Peiffer (Penny), Rod Peiffer (Vicki), Fred Peiffer (Chris), Cindy VanBeelen (Pete), Dean Peiffer, Dan Peiffer, Tony Peiffer, Kelly Peiffer and Terry Peiffer. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
