Gilbert Schafer Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gilbert Schafer of Pewamo, Michigan, who passed away on January 12, 2021 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Schafer and Dorothea Schafer (Halfmann); his former wife Joan Marie Schafer (Thelen); his son Terry Schafer; his siblings, Ralph, Stanley, Ronald, Delbert Schafer, Eveline Miller and Thelen; and his mother-in-law Dolores Martin (Tony).
He is survived by: his wife Joan Catherine Schafer (Fox); his children, Vickie Fox (David), Robin Koenigsknecht (Tim) and Kurt Schafer (Judy); his daughter-in-law Jayne Schafer; his grandchildren, Terry Schafer (Lisa), Sean Schafer (Lindsey), Shelby Schafer (Jesse), Eric Fox (Kristin), Bethany Fox, Travis Fox, Brendan Fox, Kelly Orourke (Patrick), Kevin Koenigsknecht (Olivia), Ryan Koenigsknecht (Hannah), Erin Gillespie (Josh), Rachel Schrauben (Alex) and Tyler Schafer (Michelle); his great grandchildren, Sam, Emma, Reid, Corbin, Macy, Katie, Avery, Mikey, Grayson, Levi, Scarlett and Elyse; his siblings, Bernice Karber (Bill) and David Schafer (Barbara); his stepchild Thelen; and also, Patricia Wieber (Ed), Bernadette Droste (Richard), Theresa Feldpausch (Casper) and John (Alice).
The family wishes to follow CDC Guidelines concerning the current pandemic.
