He was predeceased by: his parents, Philo Sumner and Beatrice Sumner (Bess); his son Edward Sumner; his grandson Andrew Sumner; and his siblings, Thomas Sumner and Gaylee Anderson.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy Nessen; his daughter Barbara Smith (Rich) of Alanson; his grandchildren, Dominic Sumner (Sara) and Sabrina Redmer (Stephen); his great grandchildren, Alexis, Seth and Danica Sumner; his stepgreat-granddaughter Chloe Richards; his siblings, Robert Sumner, Randy Sumner (Pam), Darlene Braun and Roxanne Bascom (Ron Windish); his siblings-in-law, Judy Sumner and Ron Nessen (Coleen); and also, Krysten Hager, Kinsley Sumner, Braylon and River Redmer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
