He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gilbert Shubel and Ethel Shubel (Foster); his wife Sherrie Elliott of Petoskey; his sister Linda Shubel of St. Clair Shores; his siblings-in-law, Dr. David Elliott (Andrea) of Iowa, Dianne Aycoth (Bob) of Delaware and Debbie Nicholas (Forest) of Tennessee; his nieces and nephews, Eric, Becky (Josh), Sara, Erica, Aaron, Andrew, Ryan, Nathaniel and Naomi; his great-nephew Wyatt; his pet Kes; and also, Katie, Amanda, Nikki, Ashley, Zack and Church. He was also cherished by many close friends and extended family.
