She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, John A. Kern and Leafa Kern (Secord); her husband Kenneth V. Hickman; her former husband Donald C. Freeland; her sons, Kenneth "Ron" (Amy), Daryl (Dee) and Roy Hickman (Karin); her granddaughters, Kristi Kritzman (Wesley), Amber Hickman, Amanda "Lynn" Hickman (Dan) and Sierra Hickman (Dion); her great grandchildren, Livy Rey, Addalyne Stricker, McKenna Kritzman and Chandler Smith; her nieces, Nancy Sheldon (John) and Kathy; her nephew Mike Adkins; her stepchildren, Mark Freeland and Emy Owens (Robby); her stepgrandchildren, Neve, Haley, Grayce Owens, Taylor, Marlena and Donnie Freeland; and her siblings, Bellene Marcilla Kern, John Kern (Alice), Bernice Dowling (C. J.), Marvin Joseph Kern, Nora Jean Emmaline Kern, Harold Kern (Marge), Betty Freeland (Leonard) and Peggy Allen Kern.

“I am deeply saddened of the passing of my dear judy, my friend of Petoskey,Mich. We had school up-to-no-good times that were fun, saw our children grow up as long as she was in Petoskey, quite a few yard sales together and many good laughs and conversations. I was about tp give her a phone call when i see in an article that she had passed, so of course I will miss her so much....Judy was such good friend up in Petoskey...you be good in Heaven, my friend. ole Barb Buckstiegel...”
