Roberta Marie (Samples) Miller Obituary
Roberta M. Miller, age 92 of Perry, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Sparrow Hospital. Funeral services will be held at the Perry Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday August 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Timothy Harmon will officiate with burial to follow at Laingsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Perry. Roberta was born in Bomont, W. Virginia on October 18, 1922, the daughter of Edward and Cora (Keeney) Samples. She went to Trevacca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN and graduated from Michigan State University.
On June 18, 1943 she married The Reverend Reo D. Miller, I. He predeceased her in 1980. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Perry and was involved in many church activities, Women's Ministries, Member of Local N.W.M.S., member of District N.W.M.S. Council, retired Teachers M.E.A. & N.E.A., and M.A.R.S.P.
Roberta was a school teacher for 15 years, assistant principal for 2 years and principal of Perry Elementary for 7 years, retiring in 1986. Roberta is survived by her son, Reo (Deb) Miller, II of Vermontville, 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, brother James (Naomi) Samples of IN, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, daughter Jerry, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
