He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur S. Benson and Alice Eriksen Benson; his siblings, Stanley, Lester, Carlton and Sylvia Nickelson; and his daughter Kelley Benson.

He is survived by: his daughter Krista Haven (John); and his nephew Lowell.
