She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Rue and Helen Rue (Knepper); her sister Judy Gibson; and her granddaughter Catherine Hay. She is survived by: her children, Christine Sims Hay (Curtis) of Petoskey, Andrea Sims of Northville, Michigan, David, Sharon and Jesus Lifting; her husband David Sims of Pellston, Michigan; and her grandsons, Cameron Hay of Kansas City and Curtis Hay Jr. of Kalamazoo, Michigan..
