Koning and Tina Koning (Kaleward); his wife Margaret Ponicki; his former wife Dorothy Ruiter; his stepchildren, Teressa Hess (Eric), Michelle Pleyte, Brian Koning and Jon Ruiter (Cherie); his siblings, Bob Koning (Ellen), Richard Koning (Nancy), David Koning (Donna), Sharon Terrell (James) and Barb Taylor (Bryce); his grandchildren, Connor, Morgan, Evan, Nicholas, Ciara, Ricky, Daniel, Jordan, Camron, Jacob and Charlotte; and his great grandchild Levi.
