She was predeceased by: her parents, John E. Rethman and Frances G. Rethman (Prueter); her husband Wesley Al Smith; her daughter Connie Garman; her grandsons, Anthony Garman and Mitchell W. Smith; and her siblings, Robert Rethman and Kathleen Kowaleski.
She is survived by: her children, Diane Wiersma (Dave), Lynn Lyon and Jason Smith (Valerie); her grandchildren, David Warncke (Shelley), Elizabeth, Travis Garman, Madelyn Ballantyne (James), Rachel Buck and Lindsey Trepka; her great grandchildren, Landon, Hayden, Wesley, Brantley, Finley, Vayda and Walter; and her siblings, Jerry (Judy), John Rethman (Stephanie) and Judy Glesmer. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
