It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Ward Hartwell of Paw Paw, Michigan, born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, who passed away on May 22, 2022, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Vern Ward Hartwell and Irene Belle Hartwell (Mochmer); and his siblings, Joan Dean, Joyce Harvey and Richard Hartwell.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Hartwell (Bush); his children, David Hartwell (Suzanne), Doug Ballard (Roxann), Tom Ballard (Greta), Duke Hartwell (Kelly) and Rebecca Cook (Jason); his grandchildren, Justin Hartwell, Alex Hartwell, Alyssa Monroe (Brandon), Dylan Ballard, Derek Ballard, Madelyn Arevalo Malpartida (Stephano), Nolan Ballard, Evan Hartwell, Noah Hartwell, Katelyn Cook, Brett Cook and Reyana Cook; his great grandchild Emilia; and his brother Harvey Hartwell.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Legion McGowan-Johnson Post 68, Paw Paw designated to the statue project for the Maple City Veterans Park or to United Christian Services.
