He was predeceased by: his parents, Milford Dean and Ione Barton (Wilhelm); his wife Jeanne Eva Barton; his son James Dean Barton; his brother Thomas Barton; his brother-in-law Bill Sheets; and also Robert Barton.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Barton (Angel), Richard Barton (Pat Ferrell-Barton), Michael Barton (Karrie) and Lynette Tilson; his grandchildren, Steven Barton (Ashley), Amanda Schoch (Scott), Jason Call (Celina), Brandon Tilson (Danielle), Ashley McVaugh (Ian), Joshua Wildermuth (Rachel), Brittney Holbrook (Jacob), Bobbi Fuller (Corey), Kourtnee Hahn (Jordan), Aubree Schultz (Justin) and Dylan Barton; and his sister Barbara Sheets.
