He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Jones and Marie Jones (Moore); and his siblings, Dan Jones, Jerry Jones, Diana Crandall and Rita Cannon.

He is survived by: his son James II; his daughter-in-law Heather Jones; his grandchildren, Jamie Jones, Ashley Smith (Trent) and Madison Roof (Jeffery Mulder); his great grandchildren, Ainsley Smith and JJ Mulder; his sisters, Ruth Coffman and Retha Bancroft (Connie Jones); and his nephew Jeff Cannon.
