It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James I. Work II (Otisville, Michigan), born in Lansing, Michigan, who passed away on September 2, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Work and Pauline Work; his sisters, Pamela Mack and Jacki K. Work; his children, Tracy Hopkins Congdon and Jeremy Hopkins; and his grandson Jacob Ryan Hopkins.

He is survived by: his wife Chrystal G. Work; his close friend Bill Morgan; his siblings, Lloyd Work (Amy) and Sheryl Jenkins (Patrick); his daughters, Laura Work (Annette), Della Lombardo (John), Valerie Maynard and Lisa Ewald (Ben); his grandchildren, Damian, Anthony, Ashlynn, Francesca, Charlie, Madelynn, Brooklynn, Molly, Colt, Cassie and Lucas; and his great grandchildren, Alannah and Alayjah.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Jim's family in the c/o Chrystal G. Work.

“Issac (always called him that along with most LPD officers) had our days in the sun. From the day we made the famous White Castle helicopter delivery to Larry Brennan , to landing the chopper on top of Cobb Hall and then and then walking into the Auto Show like we were celebrities or something, to the after midnight shift and time not so well spent at the Hudson Inn crazy plane ride, to the 3 month homicide investigation , and the White Castle Hall Of Fame induction and the rest. RIP my brother”
