He was predeceased by: his parents, John Downes, Sr. and Hildegarde Krenn. He is survived by: his wife Yvonne Downes; his children, John Downes III (Teri), Melody Cruickshank, James Downes (Amy), Brian Cruickshank (Staci) and Bonnie Carrier (Greg); and his siblings, Michael J. Downes and Judith M. Downes. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; three nieces, and four nephews.
