He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Shepherd and Evelyn Shepherd (Wynn); and his brother Harold Shepherd. He is survived by: his children, Jessica Buckner (David) of Canton, GA and Joseph Shepherd (Alex) of Bethalto, IL; his grandsons, Ethan and Jacob Buckner; his sister Lois Quinnan (Vincent Jacobs); and his pet Cloud. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
