He was predeceased by: his parents, Newt Sr. Chapman and Helen "Jean" Chapman (Fitzpatrick); his siblings, Charlie, Mick, Cheryl Sullivan and Connie Pilarski; and his father-in-law Gene Lalonde.

He is survived by: his wife Denise (Lalonde); his children, Colter (Brittney) and Chanda; his grandchildren, Rakyah and Dane; his siblings, Nute Chapman (Patricia), Chad Chapman, Clark Chapman, Mark Chapman (Cathy), Cathie Foeller (John) and Eva Taffe (Terry); his siblings-in-law, Cheryl Orcutt Chapman and Jerry Pilarski; and his half-sisters, Arlene Crawford, Joan Wright and Jean Cairnduff. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
