Rosaire Donat Laporte Obituary
We lovingly remember the life of Rosaire Donat Laporte, a devoted husband, father, grandfather "Pepe", and friend, who passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at his home in Omer, MI. Born on February 14, 1940, in St. Joachim, Canada, Rosaire spent his early years in the warm embrace of Canadian culture before moving to Michigan at the age of eleven.
Rosaire's life was characterized by his love for his family, his ingenuity, and his passion for cars. He married Barbara Camarata on March 21, 1985, and together they cherished every moment, initially living in Sterling Heights, MI before building their forever home in Standish, MI in 1992. Rosaire leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara (Camarata) Laporte, and his children, Michele (Daniel), Michael (Lucinda), Yvette (Daniel), and Todd. His legacy continues through his stepchildren, Steven and Robert, and is celebrated by his 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who were his pride and joy. Rosaire's brother-in-law, Donald Gurczynski, and sister-in-law, Carole Laporte, will fondly remember his kindness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Emelia (Marentette) Laporte, his first wife, Bonnie Laporte, and his siblings, Roland, Roger, Albert, Philip, and Rosabelle.
Rosaire's 30-year tenure at General Motors was a testament to his dedication and work ethic. Beyond his professional life, he took great pride in building their family home, and also had an exceptional skill as a tinkerer and DIY enthusiast. His love for cars extended beyond the garage, as he enjoyed car shows and discussing automotive innovations with his best friend, Dick.
Those who knew Rosaire will remember him as a loving and kind man with a creative spirit that inspired everyone around him. Whether surrounded by family or friends, Rosaire's life was a reflection of the joy and love he generated during his 85 years. His memory will be carried in the hearts of those he touched, and his influence will live on through the lives of his beloved family.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 6:00pm at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel with Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner presiding. Friends and family may visit the chapel from 2:00pm until time of service.
