He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Place and Twila Place (Greenslade); and his siblings, Zelmadene McHaney, Herrold, Phillip and Kevin.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra K. Faulkner; his children, Brian Place (Stacey) of Charlotte and Amy Gancasz (Michael) of Royersford, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Tom Moran, McKenna Place, Nolan Gancasz and Riley Gancasz; and his siblings, Norma Jean Cribley of Eaton Rapids, Sheila Heisler (Richard) of Olivet, Robert (Darlene) of Lakeview, Ronald (Laura) of Battle Creek and Daryl (Shirley) of Olivet. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family requests memorial contributions to Walton Township for a memorial bench to be placed in the cemetery in memorial of Merlyn and Sandra Place.
