“I first met Bill when we were recruits in the Coast Guard in 1964. We became instant friends. Follwing boot camp, we we stationed on the Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw. We quickly formed a bond and developed a friendship that lasted a lifetime. As the years passed our friendship grew stronger and my admirmation for Bill also continued to grow. His intellence, sense of humor and practical advise never ceased to amaze me. You will be sorely missed. You were truly "one of a kind".”
