He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph and Jennie Panis, Sr. (Bernard); his significant other Shirley Enama; his children, Michael Panis (Sally), Julie Hansen (Eric) and Mary Drogemuller (Donald); his grandchildren, Brady Panis (Clare LaFaivre), Dylan Panis, Jenna Erno (Anthony), Tyler Hansen (Destini), Kayla Hansen-Fox (Kyle), Morgan Hansen (Amos Mahoney) and John Panis; his great grandchildren, Bryce, Carsen Erno, Kyler Hansen-Fox and Ella; his siblings-in-law, Jerome Enama (Cleo) and Lorraine Thomas; his close friends, Joe Geldmeyer and Anthony Jodocy; his son David; and his sisters, Marie Rochetti and Louise "Wizzy" Panis. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Garnering numerous State and County awards, such as the 1964 Outstanding Young Farmer, sponsored by the Marinette Junior Chamber of Commerce for exceptional progress in agriculture and contributions to the community, and the 1970 Outstanding Conservation Farmer of the Year.
