He was predeceased by: his parents, Merton Schugars and Helen Schugars (Poslusny); his wife Janet C. VanderSlute; his granddaughter Hannah Schugars; and his brothers, Donald and Kenneth Schugars.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Schugars (Kim) of Muskegon, Suzanne Eaton (Frank) of Crown Point, IN, Shelley Shifman (Tim) of Grove City, OH and Stacey Laszlo (Eric) of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Matthew Donlin (Kristina), Stephanie Weiss (Ryan), Samantha Racicot (Ryan), Adam Shifman (Kristin), Danielle Schugars, Billy Schugars, Sydney and Tessa Laszlo; and his brother Phillip Schugars of Muskegon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
