He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Hoffman and Elizabeth Hoffman (Essenberg); and his brother Donald Hoffman (Phyllis). He is survived by: his wife Mary E. Wilks; his children, Denise Lennon (Nick) of Norton Shores, Bruce Hoffman (Barbara) of Norton Shores, Bradley Hoffman (Sharon) of Rapid River, MI and Melissa Hoffman of Whitehall; and his grandchildren, Amanda Zylka (Jason), Emily Garcia (Peevee), Andrew Chase, Ryan Hoffman (Melissa), Sarah Saagman (Josh), Christy Lowe (Steve), Chris Sturgis (Bill), Curt Dawson (Dacia), Joseph Dawson, Kendra Musselman (Jordan) and Kory Lennon. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and social distancing, a private family graveside service will be held in East Dalton Oakwood Cemetery.
