He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyman Chaffee and Magdalene "Lena" Chaffee (Smith); his former wife Barbara Ann Chaffee; his wife Rosella Chaffee; his children, Bruce Chaffee and Cindy Miesch; his grandson Eric Chaffee; and his siblings, Lyman Chaffee and Donna Hall.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Chaffee Jr. (Deb), Brenda Chaffee, Jude Thomas, Peter Chaffee (Debbie), Jeff Chaffee (Laura), Jonathan Chaffee (Ria) and Timothy Chaffee (Katrina); and his brother-in-law Charles "Chuck" Hall. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
