He was predeceased by: his parents, James Donald Barnes and Faith Barnes (Fosdick). He is survived by: his wife Alcie Eloise Barnes (Gibson) of Norton Shores, MI; his children, James Barnes, Jr. of Spring Lake, MI, Vicki Schultz (Paul) of Montague, MI, Julie Wyhowski (Randy) of Otsego, MI, Janice Boomgaard (Luke) of Spring Lake, MI, Pamela Onken (Ken) of Fennville, MI, Cheryl Caperton (Pete) of Fennville, MI and Jody Klamer; and his brother Bill Barnes (Lucile). He is also survived by grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (2651 Shettler Rd, Muskegon, MI 49444). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Donations in his memory can be made to Fountain View Assisted Living in Coopersville Michigan, a not for profit facility dedicated to caring for the elderly.
