He was predeceased by: his parents, Morris Mitchell and Elsie Mitchell; his sisters, Arlene Haller and Marie Silrum; and his brothers-in-law, Arnold Haller, Edwin Silrum and Irving Davidson.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Louise Olsen; his sister Elaine Davidson; his children, Mark Mitchell (Kathy) of Norton Shores, MI, Timothy Mitchell (Pamela) of Traverse City, MI, Jonathan Mitchell (Lori) of Littleton, CO, Nathan Mitchell (Jennifer) of Falls Church, VA and Annette Mitchell (Julia Wood) of Pinellas Park, FL.; his grandchildren, Raquel Huffman (Derek), Lorin Karr (Matthew), Elizabeth Mitchell, Hillary Mitchell, Annika Mitchell, Peter Mitchell (Emily), David Mitchell and Matthew Mitchell; and his great grandchildren, Mary Huffman, Sarah Huffman and Garrison Karr.

In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL DONATIONS may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the Poppen House, and Muskegon Rescue Mission.
