Akbar, Rasheed Akbar and Semaj Akbar; his grandchildren, Jaiyana Mayes, Semiyah Akbar, Johanna Mayes, Johan Mayes, Emmanuel Anderson, Saij Akbar, Noah Mayes, Noland Mayes, John Howard Mayes III, Troy Hoskins, Trevor Hoskins, Jacob Bell and Keagan Johnson; his siblings, Albert Nelson (Faye), Senora Lee and Lucretia Sain (Martin); and his children, Sonia Simon, Gabriel Todd, Ebony Johnson of Charleston, SC, Jamie Boatwright Sydes, Doren McDonald of Louisville, KY, Percy Broadnax, Samuel Watson, Sheena Todd of Los Angeles, CA and David Thomas. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends.
