He was predeceased by: his parents, James J. and Mary E. Cavanaugh (Smith); his son Jason Cavanaugh; and his siblings, James Cavanaugh, Joseph Cavanaugh, Cheryl Dormer and Dennis Cavanaugh.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Cavanaugh; his son Robert Cavanaugh of Beaverton, Oregon; his daughter-in-law Kristina Cavanaugh of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Cody James Cavanaugh and Sydney Marie Cavanaugh; his siblings, Francis Cavanaugh (Marilyn) of Dauphin and Linda Klinger (David) of Danville, Pennsylvania; and his siblings-in-law, Sue Cavanaugh (James) of Harrisburg, Janice Cavanaugh (Joseph) of Coopersburg, David Dormer of Locust Gap and Patrice Cavanaugh (Dennis) of Shamokin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
