He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Hale and Sylvia Hale (Schumacker); his son David Allen Hale; and his wife Carole Lynn Surbrook. He is survived by: his grandson James Hale (Angel); and his great grandchildren, Ethan, Izabella, David Hale, Julien Major, Kai, Elijah Desbrough and Anna Rae.

He made many donations and contributions to many organizations including St.Jude, Boys Town, Kids Wish Foundation, Paralyzed Vets, American Legion, VFW, Mackinac Center, and many more.
