With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Hughes Sr. of Newport, Michigan, who passed away on January 16, 2023 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his grandson Joshua. He is survived by: his wife Patricia (DeMuelenaere); his children, Janet Hartwig, Jay Hughes (Diane), Walter Hughes (late Erika), Philip Hughes (Kathy), Theresa Tomich (Lyle), Laura VanDerWerken (late John), Melanie D'Anna (Mark), Timothy Hughes (Rhonda), Kathleen Head, Kristine Hughes (Norm Whipple), Karen Horn (Chuck) and Sally Anderson; and his brother Larry Hughes (Daniella). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
