He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Smith and Beverly Smith (Wood); and his wife Susan "Sue" Smith. He is survived by: his children, Katie Smith of Newberry, Chad Plont of Wisconsin, Tyson Smith (Lisa) of Ishpeming and Michelle Plont of Battle Creek; and his brothers, George Smith (Helen) of Westland and Thomas Smith (Lynn) of Algonac. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
