He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Harold and Hazel Lucille Smith (Dulyea); and his sister Carol Sherman (Smith). He is survived by: his children, Michelle Cook (Tim), Kim Knauf (Duane) and Sean Smith (Cynthia); and his grandchildren, Joe Boden, Jennifer Wonnacott, Jeremy Cook, Jaedyn Cook, Brendan Knauf, Lauryn Knauf, Elise Knauf, Aiden Knauf, Michael Smith and Daniel Smith. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
