It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald W. Derks Sr. of Newaygo, Michigan, born in Fremont, Michigan, who passed away on July 6, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Derks and Gertrude Derks (Vredeveld); his wife Carol J. Peresada; his son-in-law John Hudson; and his siblings, Max Derks, Raymond Derks, Carol Siersema, Arlene Plaisier and Marian Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Gerald, Hesperia, Timothy Derks of Big Rapids, Patricia Hudson of Grand Rapids, Teresa Rodgers of Big Rapids and Jason Derks of Jacksonville, Florida; his siblings, Nancy Robinson of Fremont, Bill Derks of Newaygo and Linda Deur (Michael) of Newaygo; and his brother-in-law Robert Smith of Fremont. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren & 24 great-grandchildren.
