He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Ritter and Joan Highland (Booth); his children, Gabrielle Ritter, Douglas Ritter, Jr. and Nathan Ritter; and his brother Duane "Charlie" Ritter.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Wilkowski; his children, Elizabeth Wolever (Thomas) of Holton, Hannah Ritter of Newaygo, Charles Ritter of Newaygo and Daniel Ritter of Newaygo; his grandsons, Michael Wolever and Gabriel Wolever; his sister Sandy Chapin of Orleans; and his stepsiblings, Angela Knapp and Zane Highland, Jr.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
