He was predeceased by: his parents, Harm Hoekzema and Angeline Hoekzema (Folkema); his wife Frances VanderLey; his son Mark; and his brothers, Harvey Hoekzema and Paul Hoekzema.
He is survived by: his daughters, Christine Hoekzema, Elizabeth VanderBoom (Mark) and Andrea Hoekzema Thompson (Lynn); his siblings, Arlene Nesselroad, Pamela Schaidt and Daniel Hoekzema (Donna); and his grandchildren, Everett Hoekzema Smith, Desmond Hoekzema Smith, Andrew VanderBoom and Frances VanderBoom. He is also survived by his in-laws and several nieces and nephews.
