He was predeceased by: his parents, James Smith and Ethel Smith (Wiles); his great grandchildren, Jackson, Evelyn, Emersyn Fuller and Eliza Bushre; and his sister Nelda Simpkins.

He is survived by: his wife Fran Smith; his children, Cathy Bushre (Kevin) and Robert Smith (Michelle); his grandchildren, Stephanie Fuller (Patrick), Phillip Bushre (Kathryn), Jarrod Smith (Amanda) and Ariel Coats (Jeff); his great grandchildren, Caela (Hunter), Kaden, Addy, Nadia, Aleeya, Aidan, Wrynn, Avery, Harper and Lakyn; his sisters, Juanice Coburn and Cleta Jones; and his caregiver Jamie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
