She was predeceased by: her father John Akers, Sr.; and her siblings, Claudia, Katherine and Clifton. She is survived by: her son Steven Hill of New York; her mother Blanche Akers of New Haven; and her siblings, Reginald Akers of New Haven, John Akers Jr. of Los Angeles, Nellie Hazley (Wendell) of Detroit, Evelyn Green (Calvin) of Detroit, Martha Howard (Link III) of Macomb and Warren Akers of New Haven. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
