He was predeceased by: his parents, Levirne Sansbury and Mary Sansbury; his sister Katherine Johnson; and his grandparents, Grady and Mary Bankhead.

He is survived by: his wife Regina Wilburn; his daughters, Afrika Sansbury, Dr. Brittany Guyre-Powell (James) of Georgia and Amber Sansbury of Maryland; his grandson Hasan of Georgia; and his siblings, Levirne D. Sansbury (Sabrina) of Michigan, Shirley, Crystal Sansbury of Michigan, Betty Mattison of Florida and Tracy Lumpkin of Virginia.
