John William Basinger Obituary
The memory of John William Basinger of New Buffalo, Michigan, who passed away on January 29, 2025 at the age of 85, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Basinger and Nora Basinger (Biggerstaff); his wife Shirley Ann Salat; and his siblings, Robert, Joseph, Charles, Helen, Mary Lou and Betty.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel Basinger of New Buffalo, MI, Anthony Basinger (Nancy) of LaPorte, IN, Mark Basinger (Trish) of LaPorte, IN, Julie Schavey of Chesterton, IN and Tammy Hutcheson (Greg) of Grand Haven, MI; his grandchildren, Brad, Ashley, Casey, Samantha, Brenna, Spencer, Jacob, Ryan, Holly and Delaney; and his sisters, Clara, Eddie and Catherine. He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at 7:00 PM at the Sommerfeld Chapel (15 N Barton St, New Buffalo, MI 49117). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary of the Lake Church (718 W Buffalo St, New Buffalo, MI 49117).
