He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Ellen Bernard-Buie; his mother Bertha Harper of New Franklin, OH; his siblings, Richard Buie of Barberton, OH, Linda Wilson (Blaine) of Holly, OH and Brenda Starkey; his siblings-in-law, Steve Bernard and Michelle Krueger (Keith Quail); his nieces and nephews, Scott Curtiss, Henry Krueger (Candice), Andrew Krueger (Jenny), Brenda Starkey, Shelly Curtiss, Jennifer Prince and Dawn Buie; his father William Buie; his stepfather Elmo Harper; his father-in-law Robert Bernard; his brother-in-law Roger Starkey; and his mother-in-law Marion Bernard. He was also cherished by several aunts and uncles, and additional family and friends.
