It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Shirley Lahti (Negaunee, Michigan), born in Covington, Michigan, who passed away on October 13, 2021, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Victor Nurkala and Lempi Nurkala (Jarvimaki); and her husband Tauno Lahti. She is survived by: her children, Tom Lahti (Rita) of Lake, Steven Lahti (Linda) of Negaunee Twp, Milton Lahti (Jackie) of Negaunee Twp, Shirl Sundberg (Charles) of Negaunee Twp and Sara Garceau (Terry) of Negaunee; her grandchildren, Greg Lahti (Jennifer), Shawna Sundberg, Adam Sundberg (Cassie), Emily Roberts (Isaac) and Abby Paquet (Joshua); her great grandchildren, Adylin, Ansley, Callie, Owen, Ethan, Noah and Paquet; and her brother Swen Nurkala (Martha). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Shirley's memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee.
