It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rita Patricia Podeszwik of Negaunee, Michigan, born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on September 27, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Piccolo and Clara Piccolo (Pignanelli); her husband Dennis Podeszwik; and her siblings, Anthony Piccolo, Kathleen Schmaltz, JoAnn Walker and Phyllis Anderson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Patricia Heslip (Douglas) of Negaunee and Constance Kontio (Peter) of Negaunee Township; her grandchildren, Madysen, Mykenna Kontio, Baron and Marlee Heslip; and her caregiver Elyssa. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Rita's memory to The Trillium House or UP Home Health and Hospice.
