He was predeceased by: his parents, Orvo Keni and Gloria Keni (LaFreniere); his wife Carol Keni; his parents-in-law, Kate and Lyman Henson; his son Donald Merrills; his great grandchild Abbigail Merrills; and his nephews, Sean Tracy (Ronald) and Patrick Tracy.
He is survived by: his children, Jarrod Keni (Brenda), Jenn Keni, Tina (Keith Hegman), Scott Merrills, Kathy Merrills and Patrick Merrills (Sarah Dugan); his grandsons, Robert Hegman and Mathew Hegman; his sons, Cooper, Alan Merrills, Jay Keni, Angel Rivera, Brad Merrills and Jason Merrills; his granddaughters, Kayla Cote, Tiffani Childs and Ashley Childs; his sister Sheryl Stiemke; and his nephews, Brett and Chris Tracy (Sharon).
