He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Appelman and Audrey Appelman (Hummel); his former wife Yvonne Sauders; his son Patrick; his siblings, Ernest and Vivian; and his siblings-in-law, Farrell Babcock and Barbara Lamie.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Hickey; his children, Carol Simon (Dale), Jamie Hess (Mark), Sue Fassett-Musser (Dave), Debbie Kemp (Jerry) and Don Hickey (Karen); his sisters-in-law, Betty Appelman and Geri Huckendubler (Dick); and his nieces, Bonnie Otto (David) and Melinda Appelman. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.
Memorial donations may be made to the Castleton Maple Grove and Nashville EMS or the Nashville Fire Department.
