He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Proksa (Christine) and Christine Proksa (Skok); his children, Cynthia McCarl and Thomas E. Proksa; his grandchildren, Samantha McCarl, Cameron McCarl, Jessica McCarl, Zachary Proksa, Michael Proksa, Andrew Proksa and Adelle Proksa; his great grandchild Rowan Owczarzak; his siblings-in-law, James Wagenmaker (Carol), Harvey Wagenmaker (Judy), Louis Wagenmaker and Kay Beebe (Norm); his wife Betty Proksa; his brother John Proksa; and his father-in-law Edward Wagenmaker (Jeanette). He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
