He was predeceased by: his wife Rita Garten; his parents, Richard Garten and Beulah Garten; and his brothers, Bob and Paul.
He is survived by: his children, Wendy Patterson (Brad) of Ludington, Kim McDonald (Mike Barnard) of Oxford, Brian Garten of Ludington and Richard Garten (Tina) of Manistee; his sister Carolyn Ford; and his sister-in-law Shirley Garten. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
