He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Lewis and Myrtle Lewis (Johnson); and his siblings, Beverly Sloan, Dorothy Price, Anna Lewis and Cecil Lewis.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Lewis (Bene); his children, Pamela Lewis Havermans, Bambi Lewis Wilson, Sharon Hepler and Diane Malewitz (Mike); and his grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole, Joseph (Jessilyn), Zach (Carrie) and Meghan. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions in Melvin's honor can be directed to Fifth Reformed Church or The Salvation Army.
