Mattie Lee Hines Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mattie Lee Hines (Muskegon, Michigan), who passed away on January 23, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Isaac Taggart and Jessie Taggart; her husband Bishop Ulysses Hines; her daughter Sylvia Williams; her stepdaughter Paulette Hicks; and her siblings, L. O., Jim and Lelar Taggart.
She is survived by: her children, Paula Marie Hines, Venettie H. Poston, Toney Anthony Hines and Ulysses Wendell Hines; and her stepdaughters, Corretha Montague of Southfield and Janet Strong (Bishop Robert) of St. Louis, Missouri. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She held many roles within the church but was especially cherished for her contributions to women's work.
